Whitening: when yes and when no
Whitening acts on the pigment in the enamel and does not alter the structure of the tooth. It is a straightforward treatment, but it needs a healthy mouth: it should not be applied over active decay or inflamed gums.
When colour is not the problem
In patients with advanced wear, teeth look darker because thinned enamel lets the dentine show through. Whitening does little there: what has to be dealt with is the loss of structure.

Frequently asked questions about this treatment
01 How long does the whitening effect last?
It depends on your habits: coffee, red wine and tobacco shorten it. With care, the effect usually lasts one to two years before needing a touch-up.
02 Does whitening damage the enamel?
Done under professional supervision, no. The risk comes from unadjusted generic products used without checking gum health first.
03 Is sensitivity afterwards normal?
Mild, temporary sensitivity can appear in the first few days, manageable with the guidance we give you. That's why the process is supervised in clinic.
04 In-clinic or at-home: which is better?
It depends on the goal and the timeframe. In-clinic is faster; at-home is more gradual. Many patients combine both for the best result.
